‘Two men who blew up cash machines at two south Wales banks, stealing more than £80,000, have been jailed. Russell Luke Bennett, 21 and Benjamin Brian Barrett, 30, from Bristol, pleaded guilty to conspiring to cause an explosion likely to endanger life and burglary at Cardiff Crown Court. They caused explosions at two Barclays Bank cash machines – one in Treforest, Pontypridd, and another in Bridgend. Barrett was jailed for eight-and-a-half years and Bennett seven-and-a-half.’

‘A teenager has been found not guilty of raping his mother as she slept after she told a jury she had dreamed the attack. The boy, who cannot be named, was 14 when his mother woke up and accused him of trying to rape her. Despite calling the police to report the alleged incident, when the case reached trial this week the mother claimed she was “99.9% sure” she had dreamed it after a night out drinking.’
