Tenancy

Posted February 13th, 2015 in by sally

9 KBW is looking for new tenants who are ready to embrace the challenges
currently facing the publicly funded Bar and who are prepared to adapt and
expand their practices to meet those challenges.

9 KBW wants to attract those candidates who will adhere to the principles we
have established over the years: the provision of the highest quality of service in
all that we do, fearless representation for our clients, a willingness to play a full
part in the progress of Chambers and the desire to succeed as an individual as
well as a member.

We will consider applications from those with established practices, as well as
those of junior call or who have recently completed pupillage and who
demonstrate exceptional ability, commitment and enthusiasm.

We are a common law set and although we practise predominantly in Crime,
both prosecuting and defending, many of our members have mixed practices
with Family, Immigration and Direct Public Access in all areas of law as an ever
increasing part of our work.

Please visit our website for full Chambers details.
If you would like a confidential discussion before making any application our
Senior Clerk, Christine Eadie, will be happy to either meet with you or discuss
via telephone.

3rd Six

Posted February 13th, 2015 in by sally

THIRD SIX PUPILS NEEDED FOR THRIVING COMMON LAW SET.

9 King’s Bench Walk currently has three vacancies for third six pupils with experience
predominantly in Crime.

Successful applicants will be kept very busy conducting cases, for both defence and
prosecution, in the magistrates’ courts every day. Third six pupils will have ample
opportunity from the start of their time with us to develop a Crown Court practice,
prosecuting and defending and the scope to develop and refine advocacy skills is
therefore substantial. We also encourage pupils to develop their own practise in
Family and Immigration and we have experienced practitioners in all areas who will
be able to advise and guide third six pupils who wish to broaden their areas of
specialisation.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence and should be addressed to
Richard Wood, Secretary to the Tenancy and Pupillage Committee, enclosing a CV and
covering letter.

We have a robust equal opportunities policy and Chambers adheres to the Equality
and Diversity Code for the Bar.

‘Three men have been convicted of rape, despite a judge trying to stop their trial because of a lack of evidence. Judge John Pini QC halted the trial of Michael Armitage, Pawel Chudzicki and Rafal Segiet saying it could not be proved the woman did not have the capacity to consent. In an unusual move, the prosecution challenged the decision and the Court of Appeal overruled the judge.’
