It is rather worrying, and surprisingly fortuitous, that only the day after Damien Green announced the overhaul of our apparently ‘flawed’ criminal justice system, the unprecedented step of revealing the actual questions of jurors in Ms Pryce’s trial was taken, the more stupid of these being revealed verbatim in our national news. Monday also saw the media report, that in light of a victim of abuse’s suicide, cross examination of abuse victims should be limited. All this appears to be a relentless, barely vailed use of popular media to support an establisment push to restrict our age old right to criminal justice. It also appears to be blatant, pernicious manipulation of the public to gain support for restrictions to our adversarial system, particularly our magna carta right to a jury.
