  1. Finola Moss says:

It is dangerous to straitjacket justice. Particularly as we have a shortage of pathologists, and forensic science is now privatised.

It must be remembered that the coroners court is often the only public enquirer into unnatural deaths.

Serious Case Reviews are at an all time low ie 71 in 2011,which means in the absence of a criminal prosecution, or a coroner’s inquest, the true reasons for the deaths of abused children, particularly in care, are not investigated.

Scandals such as the Hillsborough,Princess Diana and David Kelly have already shown the dangers of not fully utilising coroner’s courts.

Establishing the truth about a loved one’s death is what all families want and need, even if this comes at the expense of a delayed funeral.
